Arizona
"the forty eighth state" quarter struck by
the mint on
May 4, 2008 |
 |
| The quarter's stateside face depicts the things Arizona
is famous for. The Grand Canyon, the giant desert Saguaro Cactus, and desert plants.
The state's nickname is also on the quarter. Winding through the north and western part of
the state the Colorado River created the mighty Grand Canyon. The Sonoran Desert, which is
west of Tucson and south of Phoenix, is traversed by the Gila River flowing toward Baja
California. |
