Hawaii
"the fiftieth state" quarter struck by
the mint on
October 10, 2008 |
 |
| The quarter's stateside face depicts the eight major
islands of the state with King Kamehameha I overseeing the islands with a hardwood spear
in his hand. The state motto in the Hawain language "Ua mau ke o ka 'aina i ka
pono" is also on the quarter. The state has two official languages. The King lived
from 1758 to 1819 and unified the islands into the Kingdom of Hawai'i in 1810. He is
remembered for the "Mamalahoe Kanawai," Law of the Splintered Paddle, which
protects human rights. |

Bits of History
Update:
This is the last quarter in this great coin collection. We hope you
have had great fun in collecting them. The United States has a number of territories
including the District of Columbia. Alaska and Hawaii were the last territories to be made
states. Which territory do you think will be the next state?

It's hot in this volcano. Visit the Aloha State. |
