The quarter's territory face depicts Duke Ellington at the grand piano along with the motto of the District, "Justice for All." Ellington, one of America's jazz greats was born in the District. He was a great jazz composer and arranger and was noted for great tunes like "Take the A-Train", "Satin Doll",  "Perdido", and "Sophisticated Lady." His grandson now conducts the Duke Ellington Legacy Band.
