            State Name Origin:
                                                                       What state is this.?
Most likely derived from the Chippewa words mici (great) and zibi (river), it was first
written as "Michi Sepe" by La Salle's lieutenant Henri de Tonti.

                        Tennessee

The quarter's stateside face depicts the musical heritage of the state and includes a trumpet for blues in the western Memphis area, a fiddle for bluegrass music in the eastern Appalachian area, and a guitar for country music in the Nashville central area. Nashville is the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Started in 1925 some of the greatest Opry performers included Roy Acuff, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and Willie Nelson.
