            named this region "flowery Easter" or "feast of flowers"
            on Easter Sunday 1513.

                        Texas

of Texas and the states nickmame. Texas became
an independent Republic when it declared its
independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos and then beat Santa Anna's army of  1600 in the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836."
