Kansas
"The quarter's stateside face depicts a
buffalo grazing the prairie in a field of sunflowers. Both are significant to Kansas. In
the very early history there were 30 million buffalo grazing North America. Bison meat and
hide was extensively used by the plains Indians for food and clothing. The sunflower is
native to Kansas and was used for food historically and still is today for both oil and
edible seeds with over 30,000 acres in production." |
